In 2016, Bulgin announced the strategic incorporation of sister company Arcolectric into its business offering. This brings together two complementary product portfolios to make Bulgin a more comprehensive and wider reaching provider of engineered solutions to meet the needs of the industry. In addition, the integration has expanded Bulgin’s expertise across a broader range of components, particularly electromechanical switches.

Bulgin has partnered with BioCote to deploy the use of their antimicrobial additives into a range of switches and indicators. Many of these switches are already sold into a wide variety of industries including healthcare, commercial appliances and food equipment, laboratory science, education, catering, leisure and other ‘high traffic’ public places.

Bulgin’s best-selling standard and miniature rocker switches, push-button switches, double pole splash resistant switches, corresponding indicators and splash/dust covers will be manufactured with BioCote’s silver ion technology during the moulding process to produce the world’s first antimicrobial electrical switching components.

The antimicrobial range presents OEMs with a distinctive new feature which offers a key point of end equipment differentiation and significantly enhances the benefits to the end user and the product itself.
