Materials Chemist, Coventry, Salary DOE

Founded in 1994, BioCote has established itself as the world-leader in antimicrobial technology. When manufactured into materials, our additives provide around-the-clock protection against bacteria, mould and fungi, making products more hygienic and safer to use.

As a consequence of business growth, BioCote is now looking for an ambitious and analytically-minded Materials Chemist to join our Technical Team.

As a Materials Chemist, you will be expected to investigate and understand BioCote’s diverse range of additives, as well as identify and recommend new formulations.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Analysing samples from customers and partners to provide detailed information on quantities of compounds present;
  • Quality control testing to ensure that partner products meet our minimum standards of antimicrobial efficacy;
  • Data Sheet preparation and writing;
  • Preparing documentation for material technical specifications;
  • Keeping abreast of the latest regulatory and health & safety developments;
  • Working closely with the Sales, Marketing and Administration Teams; and
  • Liaising with key suppliers.

The ideal candidate:

As the ideal candidate, you will have a degree in chemistry (or related areas) and possess at least three years’ experience in an industry-related role. You will be self-motivated with the ability to work to tight-deadlines and have excellent communication skills. You will be skilled in good laboratory practice (GLP) and be able to perform tasks to the required quality standards. Having experience of antimicrobial technology and manufacturing processes, particularly with polymers, is also desirable.
