a busy train stationPublic environments

Public buildings can be breeding grounds for bacteria, due to the variety of people using them on a regular basis.

In public environments there is a greater potential for bacterial cross-contamination due to:

  • A high frequency of human traffic e.g schools, public transport
  • A high quantity of potentially harmful bacteria e.g kitchens, hospitals and care homes
  • Greater opportunities for bacteria to reproduce e.g moist environments such as public toilets and changing rooms

BioCote® antimicrobial technology is commonly used to protect products that are repeatedly used in public areas. With floors, ceilings, paint, doors, fixtures and fittings available with BioCote® antimicrobial technology, complete environments can be designed and specified using antimicrobial products to create cleaner, more hygienic environments for occupants.

BioCote® antimicrobial technology can also be used to help maintain personal hygiene. Silver ion technology can help prevent bacteria that can cause nasty odours and discolouration and is now being used more and more in clothing garments, toiletries and beauty products for this purpose.
