Campylobacter is the most common cause of food poisoning in humans and is found in poultry such as chicken.
Transportation crates used to carry chickens from farms to processing plants are known to get contaminated with Campylobacter and can cross-contaminate and infect flocks.
In the first trial of its kind, BioCoteŽ protected chicken crates have been shown to harbour substantially fewer bacteria, including Campylobacter, than untreated crates.
Crates with less bacterial contamination are less likely to pass bacteria between flocks.
